Yes, if you want to spend $100 on a bottle for a present the team there will be able to point you right, but even if you're looking for something in the $10 to $20 range there's lots of good stuff to be had. (Fair disclosure - I used to work here the occasional Sunday to give Jeremy and Luke a bit of time off... anything to be close to all that wine!)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2166641060916490585.post-42220908724824375662012-06-09T09:52:38.672+10:002012-06-09T09:52:38.672+10:00Hi Winston and anons - they are just wonderful are...Hi Winston and anons - they are just wonderful aren't they. We commandeered Jeremy for a good 15 minutes last night going through what wine to get; got an amazing little-known red that was very special (despite only costing around $25). First anon, you're definitely right, they never make you feel like a doofus even if you have no idea what you're looking for.Lauren aka Ms Bakloverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08540872180823771651noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2166641060916490585.post-44950664996270285502012-06-08T11:57:49.968+10:002012-06-08T11:57:49.968+10:00Amazing line up and wonderful staff.

You are so lucky - enjoy! Ooh, I haven't tried those vacuum-packed jamon packs at Costco. Their South Australian smoked bacon is the only one I will buy now - I can't eat regular supermarket deli bacon anymore.Lauren aka Ms Bakloverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08540872180823771651noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2166641060916490585.post-68374249915456129142012-06-05T13:11:07.708+10:002012-06-05T13:11:07.708+10:00I've found Manchego at Costco on occasion, alo...I've found Manchego at Costco on occasion, alongside Jamon. the ham seems to be nicer from the huge 4 kilo joint they sell rather than the smaller vacume packed selections, which taste really pedestrian after the good stuff. Though, to be fair, the large pieces of jamon have differed in quality over the past 12 months, ranging from AMAZING to meh.

And the Vic Market have a few deli's where you can find la mancha cheese.

Something you might find interesting - my S.O.'s family make and smoke their own meats, so next weekend we're assembling a whole assortment of deliciousness - chorizo, smoked ribs and another type of sausage with bone and fat in it for cooking in cocido. We have been making our way through the array of beers (over the last 12months not days!!) with some helpful suggestions (tasting notes) from Jeremy and the wonderful staff he employs. A blissful part of the Seddon streetscape, where its not just about wine (or alcohol), nor the price you pay, in true Cheers style - it's where everyone know's your name or at the very least your face:) ps. the very good value for money wine just inside the door is the added bonus!!katgaihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09258819823060421051noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2166641060916490585.post-20976378324064853372012-06-05T09:00:00.352+10:002012-06-05T09:00:00.352+10:00How nice is it! If I recall correctly, the supermarket in Footscray Market sells manchego as well as lots of other obscure Spanish cheese. Typical Footscray randomness!

Another good tip is they often have another barrel in the middle of the shop filled with end of lines that are the good wines marked down.Lauren aka Ms Bakloverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08540872180823771651noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2166641060916490585.post-17315269913312518682012-06-05T08:52:17.360+10:002012-06-05T08:52:17.360+10:00Ooh you said the magic word as far as M is concern...Ooh you said the magic word as far as M is concerned - Manchego!!! I can't believe that we haven't dropped in here before, I guess we always feel obligated to Sabroso up the road because we know Jackie, but I can't wait to rummage through the bargain bins ... and those mushrooms are calling out my name.Temasekhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14200526730444111994noreply@blogger.com
