I have tried to explain over and over that they are essentially pasta (ie, favourite food numero uno) but no dice. Perhaps it has to do with social acceptability of adding cheese. At least now they like noodles in soup. Sigh! The coquettishness of children's tastebuds!!!Lauren aka Ms Bakloverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08540872180823771651noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2166641060916490585.post-50290672198823652472014-06-27T06:15:22.721+10:002014-06-27T06:15:22.721+10:00Haha, yep! And I totally feel your disappointment over stubborn children on your trip to Singapore. My gosh, kids can be tricky!! We went to Vietnam last year with our two little kids and we were pretty proud of our 31/2 year old daughter - she was my little noodle companion. I'm am crossing my fingers that our youngest, now 2, is going to follow in her footsteps, but he is not nearly as adventurous as her yet!! I drooled over the thought of you going back to JB Ah Meng too, the crab (and ambience) there's so yummy. By the way, Fatbee says the donuts you got your kids (J.Co.) is from an Indonesian franchise, so at least it's "Asiany", lol.

And guess what? I've never seen nor eaten deep fried cheese toasties in Singapore before. It'll probably be like the cheese sandwich version of goreng pisang (banana fritters) perhaps?

This whirldwind tour inspires me to start sharing my Singapore food posts again. They're tiring to write up, but so much fun writing up!Fatbooohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14183993346428249697noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2166641060916490585.post-66720263021678669582014-06-25T18:25:54.165+10:002014-06-25T18:25:54.165+10:00So that's where you've been!!! I will definitely keep Lolla in mind for next time! And yes, with time I'm sure the kids will slowly learn to love travelling and eating as much as I do. I know when we first moved to Footscray, they wouldn't eat anything, but that has certainly changed! xoLauren aka Ms Bakloverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08540872180823771651noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2166641060916490585.post-63964768729280413792014-06-25T17:11:26.074+10:002014-06-25T17:11:26.074+10:00Thanks Joe and it's my pleasure! I ended up going to Toys R Us for pool toys in desperation, as the pool at the hotel was pretty much just a pool - no kid-friendly features. You are making me salivate with envy and extremely homesick for Singaporean food especially the chilli crabs and hawker delights at Lagoon Food Centre, I used to to go Lagoon with my family before my sailing class on Sunday so it brought brought back great memories. White Rabbit is a really lovely place and glad to explore the 'finer' side of Singapore food. Another great place to check out in the future would be Lolla at Ann Siang Hill near Chinatown. Glad that your kids did enjoy their holiday in Singapore despite not being so adventurous with their food but I am sure that they would enjoy it more the next time you visit again as their palate evolve! I've recently discovered your blog and it's been really interesting :) I work in West Melbourne and frequent Footscray for lunch/market shopping all the time - I love it! So, thanks for the tips on the places I haven't eaten at yet! And I can totally empathise with you in regards to travelling with little tackers :-/ I took my son to Thailand last year when he was 3 1/2 and got the 'I'm hot, pick me up, I just want to swim at 'home' (aka our resort) a lot' So, this time it's Vietnam ala solo!Joehttps://www.facebook.com/josephfogartynoreply@blogger.com
